MTV VMAs: Ice Spice looks terrified Nicki Minaj will escalate celebrity beef live on stage

It seems like there definitely should have been an award for the best audience reaction at last night’s MTV VMAs, and Ice Spice 100% would have been in the running for her response to Nicki Minaj’s speech.

The Super Bass singer served as the host for this year’s MTV VMAs, and as well as Ice Spice, it seems like the guys at MTV were also “afraid” of what may slip out her mouth during the live award show.

Ice Spice looks ‘on edge’ during Nicki Minaj’s speech

Nicki isn’t ever afraid to say what she’s thinking, and everyone (including MTV) knows this, although she was invited back to host for the second year in a row.

Addressing these fears in a monologue in between MTV VMAs performances on stage, Nicki said: “MTV is petrified because they got a couple calls yesterday and people were saying, ‘What if Nicki says this and what if Nicki says that?'” she told the crowd.

Fans may remember the 2015 VMA’s in which the 40-year-old famously called out Miley Cyrus for “talking about her in the press”. However, it seems like this year, was not a repeat.

“And I said, you know it’s OK, MTV, I can control myself. Because if you can’t control yourself you can’t control anything around you, right? But you know who can’t control themselves? Roman. Red Ruby Da Sleeze, Chun-Li. So, I’ll think about it,” she concluded.

The audience cam, which picked up Selena Gomez’s iconic reactions, may have been one of the best things about last night as it picked up iconic reactions from Ice Spice and Taylor Swift during Minaj’s speech.

The Princess Diana singer in particular looked like she was cringing in her seat, waiting for some beef to come to the stage, especially when the Barbie World singer asked the question: “You know who can’t control themselves?”

However, it looked like all drama was avoided as Nicki then went on to introduce NSYNC to the stage. They, in fact may have caused more drama than her, as Justin Timberlake and Megan Thee Stallion seemed to get into an ‘argument’ backstage.

Fans are living for Ice Spice’s reaction

The video is now going viral on TikTok for the iconic reactions of Offset, Selena Gomez, and of course, our girl Ice Spice, and fans are living for her facial expressions.

“Ice spice was like ‘Who she talking bout,'” joked one fan.

“LMAO The Spice’s face made it for me when she said ‘You know who can’t control themselves,'” penned another.

Another user reacted: “Ice spice like “’ohhh shiii’”

“Where was Cardi B?? I wanna see her reaction,” penned another, seemingly referring to their ‘beef’ which started after an altercation at Harper’s Bazaar Icons party for 2018.

“Nicki was sooooo petty!! she was waiting for this night to throw shade. and I am here for it.” laughed another.
