Kate Middleton once donated her hair to cancer charity - 'Heartwarming thing for her to do'
Kate Middleton once kindly donated her hair to support a child cancer charity, Little Princess Trust, which makes wigs for young patients fighting the disease.
The Princess of Wales has recently revealed she is undergoing treatment for cancer, years after her charitable act, which took place in 2017. Kate Middleton underwent planned abdominal surgery earlier this year and later revealed cancer was found after the procedure was done. Sheās now undergoing preventative treatment, as she takes a step back from royal duties.
Kate Middleton āsecretlyā donated hair to cancer charity
In 2017, Kate was getting her hair cut in Kensington Palace by her hairdresser, Joey Wheeler, who cut seven inches from her long brown locks.
āFour months ago Joey persuaded her it was time to take off some of her hair; he said it was just getting too long,ā a royal source told the Sunday Express in 2018. āWhile Joey was snipping away the idea came to her of doing some good with it rather than throwing it away.ā
She then mentioned the idea to her hairdresser, who thought it was a brilliant idea, however, the trust didnāt know it was from a royal source at the time. Instead, they thought it was from a female in the Kensington area.
āItās lovely to think somewhere a little girl is happily wearing a wig made from a real princessās hair. Itās a very heartwarming thing for Kate to have done, and very thoughtful to use hair that would have otherwise just been thrown away,ā the source concluded.
Upon hearing that the hair had been donated by the Princess herself, the Trust said it was a āgreat surpriseā.
Helen Creese, spokesperson for the charity said: āObviously weāre all absolutely delighted that she donated her hair, and weāre very grateful as well, just as weāre grateful to everyone who chooses to support the charity in this way, and so many people do.ā
King Charles and Kate Middleton have been a āsource of comfortā to each other during cancer diagnosis
King Charles also revealed he had been diagnosed with cancer earlier this year, which followed a visit to the UK from his youngest son, Prince Harry.
In January, the father and daughter-in-law both found themselves in the same hospital, and a royal source says their health struggles have brought them closer together.
āItās very clear that heās extremely concerned about her. I think he wants to make sure as much as he can that if thereās anything he can do, he will do, Robert Hardman author of Charles III: New King, New Court, tells HELLO! āBecause for a very fit and healthy young mother, this is a different order of magnitude to someone having to deal with this in their 70s.ā
The author then goes on to say that the two have been a āsource of comfort for each otherā. āI think it cannot but have brought them even closer together. Heās always had a huge regard for his daughter-in-law. He thinks sheās just wonderful.ā
