Spy craft takes center stage on Netflix at the top of 2022 with the original series, In from the Cold.

Russian spies may not be as common place as federal agents in media but this particular niche category of the crime-thriller genre tends to produce hits.

In from the Cold, takes the well-trodden plot of a former spy of Russian origin being dragged back into the life they left behind and turns it on its head by adding a science fiction element.

Jenny Franklin, a single mom from America, isn’t as ordinary as she seems and the CIA knows it. She’s the key to uncovering the source behind a murder spree using methods that bear a peculiar resemblance to her own experiment given special abilities.

The series premieres Friday, Jan. 28, 2022. It’ll have eight episodes which will all be available to stream.

The official synopsis via Netflix:

"During a European vacation with her daughter, an American single mom’s life is turned upside down when the CIA forces her to confront her long-buried past as a Russian spy who was also the product of a highly classified KGB experiment granting her special abilities. After a mysterious string of manic and murderous incidents suggests someone with her exact abilities is targeting innocent people, Jenny (Margarita Levieva) is forced out of hiding to stop this villain or risk losing the family and new life she has built."
