Is the crime thriller film okay for kids?
After a theater release in August 2022, Emily the Criminal finally makes its way to Netflix on Dec. 7. If you’re looking forward to watching the Aubrey Plaza movie, it’s important that you’re made aware of the parents guide and age rating. Can you watch this film with kids? Find out below.
Emily the Criminal is a crime thriller written and directed by John Patton Ford in his feature film debut. His previous work includes a short film titled Patrol.
The story follows Emily, a young woman deeply in debt who has a hard time finding a well-paying job due to her criminal background. However, her life forever changes when she becomes involved in a credit card scam. But being mixed up in illegal work always has its consequences.
The film had its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2022 before releasing in theaters in the United States later on. If you’re a Netflix Lifer, chances are you were waiting for the crime thriller to come to Netflix. Fortunately, the streamer set a release date, so now you can prepare for its release.
The crime thriller is rated R, meaning it may not be suitable for ages under 17. It was given this maturity rating for strong language, some violence, and brief drug use. The film also includes some sexual content.
Overall, it’s intended to be watched by mature, adult audiences. We strongly recommend watching this movie when the kids are tucked in and ready for bed. Or, you can put on a kids’ movie to keep them occupied while you watch Emily the Criminal. We suggest checking out Netflix’s seemingly endless kids’ section to find a film for your kids. I’m sure you’ll find something good for them to watch.
