In June 2019, Ellis married his longterm girlfriend, American screenwriter and actress Meaghan Oppenheimer. As reported by Express, Ellis and Oppenheimer were wed at the Grassini Family Winery in Santa Ynez Valley, California. Some of Oppenheimer’s writing credits include We Are Your Friends starring Zac Efron and season 1, episode 4, “Not Fade Away” of Fear the Walking Dead.
