Solange Knowles gets pissy at reporter on live tv
Solange Knowles got all pissy with a reporter on Fox 5 LA. Knowles, 22, was on a live interview yesterday to promote her new album, Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams, which was out Tuesday. She got confused by a segment the news ran ahead of her interview about Jay-Z’s 40/40 club closing that was not related to her interview and was just supposed to be general entertainment news.
The news anchor then did an introduction for Solange on camera that didn’t mention anything about 40/40, and only said that she has a “famous sister,” but is stepping out on her own like Ashlee Simpson.
Solange started the interview with “I have to say that was not a very professional introduction before. Please don’t tie me in to family and my brother in law’s establishment.”
The reporter look confused, looked off camera and answered, “I do apologize. I don’t know if we talked about your brother in law’s establishment. Are you talking about with TMZ?”
She answered, “No, just a few minutes ago,” and then you hear someone off camera say “that wasn’t live Solange, that wasn’t on TV.”
Then the anchor picked up very nicely, saying she apologizes again and bringing up a quote Solange gave to Billboard about not wanting to be compared to her sister anymore.
Solange talked about her album, which is a throwback to the 60s and 70s music she said she listened to with her mom when she was growing up. Solange was pretty pissy throughout the interview and just kind of talked in an annoyed monotone about her album. She’s going to have to work on that attitude if she wants to really step out of her sister’s shadow. You have to think that she would be more successful at becoming known as a singer if she would be gracious about it and say some bs like “it’s an honor because Beyonce is so talented, and I admire her.” Otherwise she comes off as the grumpy less talented one riding on her sister’s coattails and resenting it.
Like “26 year-old” Beyonce, it’s hard to believe that Solange is just 22. She seems much older. She is a mother to a nearly four year-old son, Daniel Julez, and says she brings him with her on the road with help from her family.
Thanks to Just Jared for the heads up on the video.
