Randy Quaid and his wife Evi arrested over hotel room dispute
Randy Quaid has made a career playing offbeat, colorful weirdos – most notably as Clark Griswold’s hillbilly cousin Eddie in the National Lampoon’s “Vacation” movies. But in real life, Randy and his wife Evi are pretty whacko, too. The couple were arrested yesterday in Marfa, Texas for burglary, defrauding an innkeeper and conspiracy. They were released after posting bail at $20,000 each. Get this — the sheriff actually drove Quaid and his wife to an ATM to get the cash needed to post bond! The charges stem from a dispute with the innkeeper of the San Ysidro Ranch near Santa Barbara, who claims that the couple owes thousands of dollars in unpaid room fees. Funny how they had the cash to post bail, but not to pay their hotel bill! Randy and his wife didn’t go quietly when the cops picked them up , – in fact, Evi put up quite the struggle and had to be restrained, according to the police report.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ they believe Randy and Evi Quaid have a pattern of staying in pricey hotels and stiffing the joints when they leave .. and that’s why authorities are trying to nail the Quaids for burglary.
Our law enforcement sources tell us the reason they believe the Quaids were scamming the San Ysidro Ranch from the get-go is because they have evidence they’ve done it before. Our sources say the Quaids stiffed the uber-ritzy Bel Air Hotel in L.A., among other places.
The couple also sent TMZ a hand-written note that proclaims their innocence – at least, I think it does. It’s kind of hard to read and doesn’t make much sense. The note does include a copy of a cashier’s check which they say proves that the bill was paid. TMZ also posted the couple’s mugshots, which are right up there with Nick Nolte and Glenn Campbell on the crazy meter. Randy is sporting a homeless-person-beard and is smiling while draping a suit jacket over his shoulder, while his wife is just staring into the camera with these huge nutso eyes. I don’t know what kind of trip these two are on, but they’ve been married 20 years so it must be working for them. Crazy loves crazy, I guess
