Is Netflix show okay to watch with kids?
Netflix new series The Lincoln Lawyer was released on May 13, and fans of Michael Connelly’s Mickey Haller book series will be watching. You truly can’t miss Manuel Garcia-Rulfo in the leading role of this exciting legal drama.
The Lincoln Lawyer finds Mickey Haller returning to law after a personal hiatus and diving right back into a high-profile murder case of a billionaire accused of killing his wife and her lover. It’s a tangled web of conspiracies and mysteries, but Mickey Haller can handle it.
If you’re thinking the series is super dark like the limited series that now populate Netflix’s ranks, fans of comfort television will love to hear this particular series has a lot in common with shows like White Collar, Suits, and Magnum P.I. than anything else.
But before diving into the new series on Netflix, it’s worth noting that the streamer has given the legal drama a TV-MA age rating. Why has the series earned that rating, and is the show okay to watch with children and young adults? We break down the parents guide below.
As previously mentioned, Netflix has rated The Lincoln Lawyer TV-MA for language. Throughout the 10 episodes of the first season, the characters use some rather coarse profanity in heated situations. It’s nothing too outrageous, but it’s more than your average cable drama.
The series also features mature themes and violence that might not be suitable for viewers under the age of 17. There are some instances of bloody imagery and mild nudity, but neither are as graphic as what you might see in an R-rated movie.
All in all, the new Netflix series isn’t an appropriate watch for children and younger teens, but there are so many great shows for youngsters and tweens to watch on Netflix. Keep this one as a parents-only binge-watch once the kids go to bed. You’re going to love it!
